Press Release – RT Software and Pebble Collaborate at IBC 2024
London, UK. September 2024
RT Software, a leader in broadcast graphics technology, is proud to announce its collaboration with Pebble at IBC 2024. RT Software’s Swift Engine, known for its advanced graphics rendering, will be part of Pebble’s playout demonstrations during the event.
Pebble, the leading automation, content management and integrated channel specialist, will
showcase the latest versions of its highly-regarded playout automation systems at IBC,
including Automation 2.0 and Integrated Channel.
RT Software’s Swift Engine enhances these solutions by offering a robust, mature broadcast
graphics engine that delivers frame-accurate graphics under the precise control of Pebble’s
reliable playout automation system. Having been deployed in 24/7 playout environments by
numerous tier-1 broadcasters for many years, Swift Engine is well-versed in the demands of
live broadcasting.
Swift Engine is versatile, capable of generating a wide range of graphics—from simple animated
logos to more complex effects such as full screen picture-in-picture DVE squeezebacks,
incorporating both live feeds and video clips. It effortlessly handles multiple layers of tickers,
lower thirds, and full-screen menus, giving channels the freedom to fully express their
branding on air.
Operators using Pebble’s system have full control over the content of the graphics directly
from their playlist. As they update their playlist, these changes are reflected in the graphics
engine, ensuring that what viewers see is always up-to-date. Moreover, Swift Engine’s
integration with other Swift products and services enables graphics to be dynamically
populated with live data, making it ideal for breaking news scenarios, financial updates and
many other live scenarios.
For manual control of graphics, operators can choose between using Pebble’s existing
interface or RT Software’s intuitive, browser-based Swift Live interface, offering flexibility and
ease of use.
Steve Hart, Development Director at RT Software, commented, “We’ve worked closely with
Pebble on their Integrated Channel and as a separate device under Automation 2.0. Our
extensive experience in playout aligns perfectly with Pebble’s commitment to excellence, and
we’re thrilled to support them and their customers at IBC.”
Miroslav Jeras, CTO at Pebble, added, “Sophisticated graphics branding is crucial for premium
broadcast services. The seamless integration of Swift Engine with Pebble Automation allows
our customers to deliver cutting-edge graphics without adding to their operational complexity.
We’re excited that our partnership with RT Software continues to deliver significant value to
our customers.”
In addition to demonstrations at RT Software’s booth (7.B20) and Pebble’s booth (8.C58), both
companies will also be contributing to the NVIDIA Holoscan for Media demonstration at Dell’s
booth (7.A45). This software-defined, AI-enabled platform supports live video pipelines and allows applications from companies like RT Software and Pebble to run on the same infrastructure as AI. Built on industry standards and APIs such as ST 2110, it utilizes commercially available off-the-shelf hardware, providing a flexible and repurposable solution for modern broadcasting needs.
