Press Release – RT Software to Enhance Broadcast Graphics with NVIDIA Holoscan for Media
London, September 9th — RT Software, a leader in broadcast graphics technology, is pleased to announce a collaboration with NVIDIA to enhance the capabilities of its Swift broadcast graphics system. This collaboration will enable Swift users to leverage the power of the NVIDIA Holoscan for Media platform, improving the efficiency of broadcast technology infrastructure. Attendees of IBC 2024 can witness the results of this collaboration at the Dell booth in Hall 7, A45.
At IBC 2024, RT Software will showcase how the containerized Linux version of its advanced Swift Engine graphics renderer can be quickly deployed to meet the dynamic demands of broadcasters. Swift Engine’s modular design is tailored to support the evolving needs of the broadcast and media industry, offering flexible deployment and centralised management across diverse IT infrastructure environments.
NVIDIA Holoscan for Media is a software-defined, AI-enabled platform that allows live video pipelines to run on the same infrastructure as AI. It delivers applications from established and emerging vendors, like RT Software, on NVIDIA OVX systems with NVIDIA L40S GPUs. Holoscan for Media is an IP-based platform built on industry standards, such as ST 2110, and APIs, and is inclusive of essential services like PTP for timing and NMOS for interoperability and manageability.
During the IBC demonstration, RT Software will utilise the management layer of the Holoscan for Media platform to deploy multiple unique instances of its containerized Swift Engine and DataServer applications. This capability allows broadcasters to scale resources to meet operational demands as they vary over time.
Swift Engine will allocate resources from the platform for both video using NVIDIA Rivermax ST 2110 and graphics processing leveraging NVIDIA RTX GPUs. Meanwhile, RT Software’s DataServer facilitates the connection between Swift Engine’s graphics rendering and the operator’s control interface, Swift Live, accessible via a local web browser. This browser-based interface enables broadcasters to introduce greater flexibility into their operations, allowing setups in any suitable location with a network connection.
Swift Live operators can preview full graphics animations through low-bitrate WebRTC video streams, update dynamic fields like text, and then trigger the graphics for live broadcast. This system is ideal for high-value graphics applications across sectors such as news, sports, and channel branding.
To meet the new operational modes that a platform like Holoscan for Media supports, RT Software offers licensing for Swift on a sliding scale for short-term use, in addition to its standard perpetual licensing model.
Steve Hart, Development Director at RT Software, commented, “Our broadcast customers have expressed strong interest in dynamic resource deployment on platforms like Holoscan for Media. We’ve been involved in early adopter projects in this area, using developments like AI and ST 2110 uncompressed video streaming in our offerings. Our 20-year collaboration with NVIDIA has consistently helped us push the boundaries of what we can achieve. We look forward to continuing our collaboration with NVIDIA and supporting the adoption of Holoscan for Media by our broadcast customers.”
“Our long-standing collaboration with RT Software has helped provide high-grade graphics quality to broadcasters around the world,” said Guillaume Polaillon, product line manager, live media solutions at NVIDIA. “With support for Holoscan for Media, RT Software is equipped to deliver NVIDIA RTX rendering capabilities running side by side with other live media and AI applications to users of the platform.”
